I completely scrapped the old digipak and started from scratch to create a new one. I thought the best idea to start off would be to look at inspiration in a music store as well as online. While looking at these two places I realised that I grown to the idea where there is lots of colours involved. This could mean either the subject is a bright and vibrant colour or the outline is.
Also I personally like the style of geometric designs as I find it very enticing and I thought that it is worth a shot to see what it would look like on the front of the digipak. I then realised that I should develop the geometric triangles to features photos that I took from the day of filming to add a sense of identity to the front of the digipak rather than it being a series of triangles.
My first design is at the very top of this post and there is something about it I don't really like, I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was but I decided to make another design to see which one I liked better. As you can tell I designed it on Pages and not Photoshop as I am not very skilled with Photoshop and I felt like I could focus on the design more using Pages rather than Photoshop. This is because I would have been trying to figure out how to use the tools effectively rather than thinking what could go on the front cover.
To create the second design with the middle screenshot I enhanced the first design but changing the colour and shape of the triangle, by increasing the thickness of the border and using a different font for the name of the digipak and the band name. Also this put in a different location too. I kept experimenting for what would look best through trial and error and came up with the design from the second screenshot. It was very simple to create as it only consisted of shapes and colours but I think it turned out to be very effective. Also from gaining some audience feedback showed that they really liked this design as that I should re-create this on Photoshop for my actual digipak.
On Photoshop I recreated the design but made the border less thick to match with the thickness of the writing which seemed to match better and look more professional. Also I decided not to insert the background because even though I really liked the design, the colour white makes everything look clean and more vibrant to the audience. Also the colour white matched the other pages too.
