Digipak Tray Progress

The photo at the top of this page is the template for the disk I used. First I opened it on Photoshop to experiment with different designs but I was pretty sure that the design was going to be similar to the front cover of the digipak because this seems to be the conventions that I had found from looking at different digipaks from a variety of artists, bands and genres. If the artist or band did not relate the CD design to the front cover, they made it very simple but keeping it one bold colour and adding the name of the band as well as the name of the artist/band.

This is why I decided to use the same colour triangles from the front cover and design them to make it look effective on the CD. I did this through trial and error as I wanted it to fill the CD and leave room for the text. First of allI put the name of the band as well as the name of the album just above the middle of the CD on the top, but I decided that an elliptical style may work well and it did. I haven't seen a CD use this technique before but when I put the text over the shapes it didn't work well and seemed to blend in a little with the colour which made it look unprofessional.
